National Assembly’s Commitment to Securing Nigeria Highlighted by Lawmaker

In Abuja, Representative Ibrahim Almustapha-Rabah (APC-Sokoto) affirmed on Monday that the National Assembly is deeply dedicated to ensuring the security of Nigeria.

During an interview, the lawmaker expressed the collective efforts of the National Assembly to address various issues, both individually and collaboratively, with the ultimate goal of improving security in Sokoto State and Nigeria as a whole.

Mr. Almustapha-Rabah, who represents the Rabah/Wurno Federal Constituency, voiced optimism that these concerted efforts would yield positive outcomes. He acknowledged that the nation had been plagued by insecurity, largely perpetuated by a small number of criminally-minded individuals.

He pointed out that these miscreants openly wielded sophisticated weapons, causing harm, seizing livestock, and engaging in ransom kidnappings. Furthermore, he emphasized that the roots of such criminal elements could be traced back to societal gaps, particularly in education and employment opportunities.

The legislator highlighted the importance of prioritizing education, infrastructure development, and agriculture as critical drivers of development in Sokoto State. He affirmed that various concerns and potential solutions have been discussed within the chambers of the National Assembly.

Mr. Almustapha-Rabah recognized that the implementation of resolutions passed by the National Assembly often requires time and funding. However, he expressed confidence in the commitment of both the federal administration, led by President Bola Tinubu, and the Sokoto State government, led by Governor Ahmed Aliyu, to address these challenges.

He also commended Governor Aliyu’s recent procurement of operational vehicles to support security agencies. As elected representatives, the lawmaker asserted that they are diligently working, albeit quietly, to address infrastructure gaps and contribute to lasting solutions.
