Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has extended his heartfelt appreciation to a lineup of prominent figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, Professor Banji Akintoye, Ayo Adebanjo, as well as various traditional rulers, for their instrumental roles in securing his release from Beninese custody.

Igboho conveyed his gratitude in a statement shared via his Instagram handle titled “My Release in Benin Republic” on Sunday.
In his statement, Igboho expressed profound thanks to the Almighty for the auspicious day of his release. He went on to commend President Talon of Benin Republic and his entire cabinet for their assistance throughout his detainment.
Furthermore, Igboho acknowledged and praised the unwavering support of Professor Banji Akintoye and Professor Wole Soyinka during the challenging period. He specifically hailed Professor Akintoye for standing courageously in support of the Yoruba nation and himself, keeping his promise to stand by Igboho during his time in Benin Republic.

The statement also acknowledged the contributions of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Baba Ayo Adebanjo, recognizing that ultimate freedom comes from God. Igboho seized the opportunity to extend his gratitude to all religious leaders, including pastors, Muslim clerics, and traditional worshippers, for their ceaseless prayers on his behalf.
Sunday Igboho had fled Nigeria after a raid on his residence in Soka, Ibadan, by the Department of State Service (DSS), who accused him of hoarding arms.
