Iraqi foreign minister anticipates 10-day escalation in Gaza strip amid Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein expressed concerns on Tuesday, suggesting that the current escalation in the Gaza Strip might continue for at least 10 days. During a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Hussein shared his worries, emphasizing the hope that the ongoing conflict would not spill over to affect neighboring countries.

Hussein elaborated, stating, “We believe that, unfortunately, the hostilities currently taking place in Gaza could last at least 10 days.” He underscored the potential repercussions of an extended conflict, emphasizing that it could have adverse effects on neighboring nations.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister stressed the importance of international intervention to halt the hostilities and seek a just resolution to the Palestinian issue.

Meanwhile, leaders of Israel’s ruling coalition parties have expressed their support for the establishment of an emergency government. They have authorized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take action in forming such a government, as reported by the Kan radio broadcaster on Tuesday.

In a move to address the crisis, Netanyahu called upon the opposition to collaborate in forming an emergency government, setting aside any preconditions.
