Abdullahi Ganduje, the Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has downplayed the recent court judgment that disqualified Timipre Sylva from participating in the upcoming gubernatorial election. In his view, this development is merely a minor distraction, and he remains confident in his party’s ability to secure victory in the November 11 election.

Ganduje went further to discredit the candidate who initiated the legal action against Sylva, arguing that this individual is not suitably qualified to stand for the elections. He emphasized that this setback would not deter their efforts.

Formerly the governor of Kano State and currently at the helm of the APC, Ganduje expressed his views while at the Presidential Villa. He stated, “It’s unfortunate that the judgment came, but we can say that it is democracy in action. But we learned that the person who took the issue to the court of law is not even qualified because he did not contest with Sylva. Therefore, he’s not even qualified to take the issue to the court.”

He added, “However, we are appealing. We’re waiting for the judgment, and then we appeal for calm on that issue. Last two weeks I was in Bayelsa for two good days, and I think they are ready and they’re still ready to win the election. Therefore, this is a little distraction anyway, but we will overcome it. We believe the Appeal Court will give us a positive judgment, but that will not stop us from making arrangements for the forthcoming election.”
