President Tinubu greenlights emergency repairs on 260 roads valued at N217 billion

In a significant move to address the deteriorating state of the nation’s road infrastructure, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the green light for emergency repair projects on 260 roads across the country, with an estimated total cost of N217 billion.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, during a media briefing held after a meeting with President Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja. In addition to the road repair projects, the President also approved various vital infrastructure undertakings.

These initiatives encompass resurfacing the 3rd Mainland Bridge, a crucial artery in Lagos, the construction of the Lekki deep seaport road, reconstruction efforts for two bridges in Enugu that had collapsed, and the rehabilitation of two sections of the Onitsha-Owerri Road.

Furthermore, the approved road projects include the enhancement of the ongoing Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia road and the expansion of the Lafia bypass, a critical route.

The Minister of Works expressed his appreciation for the President’s deep commitment to restoring and enhancing the nation’s road network, noting that President Tinubu had shown unwavering support for various road and bridge repair initiatives. He mentioned that President Tinubu had authorized multiple emergency road and bridge repairs in recent days, including addressing the challenges arising from collapsed bridges and flood damage.
