Peseiro confident in Super Eagles’ depth for Mozambique clash

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has expressed his confidence in having suitable replacements for Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho in Monday’s friendly against the Mambas of Mozambique.

Both Osimhen and Iheanacho have been ruled out of the match scheduled at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira, according to a press release from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Osimhen sustained a hamstring injury during the Super Eagles’ 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia, while Iheanacho was released from camp for personal reasons.

Peseiro emphasized that the team has enough quality to manage the absence of these two players, stating, “We will miss Kelechi and Victor, but we have other good players who can make Nigeria proud. I look at the bench and see players who can step up and take their chances.”

The upcoming match will mark the fifth encounter between Nigeria and Mozambique at the senior level.
