Mr Macaroni addressed the gathering, stating, “The peace walk is in honor of all those who lost their lives on October 20, 2020. We’ve paid our respects, and we now want to walk back. However, the police are hesitant to let us return. We aim to prevent giving them any reason or excuse to use force against us. We’ve been on this journey for three years now, and we are aware of what they are capable of.”
He used the opportunity to call for the unconditional release of all detained protesters, emphasizing that some individuals have been in prison since 2020 despite legal efforts to secure their release. He urged all relevant parties to act swiftly and release these detainees.
The peace walk organized by Mr Macaroni served as both a commemoration of the tragic events of October 20, 2020, and a call for justice and the freedom of the remaining #EndSARS protesters in detention.
