In response to a tragic incident involving the m#rder of a motorist by operatives of the Ughelli North Council’s Task Force on Traffic in Delta State, the Delta State Government has taken decisive action by disbanding all traffic task forces operating within the state.

The incident, which was triggered by an alleged case of driving against traffic in Ughelli, led to petitions and calls for justice, prompting the state government to take this action.

Additionally, the chairman of the Uvwie local government, Delta State, Hon Ramson Onoyake, has also banned a similar local traffic control task force. This decision was made in response to numerous complaints from vehicle owners and tricycle operators within the area who had expressed dissatisfaction with the task force’s conduct.

Chairman Onoyake, in a direct and swift response to these concerns, immediately stripped the traffic control task force members of their duties. He expressed his disappointment with their behavior, citing multiple warnings that had been previously issued.

During an address at the council secretariat in Effurun, Onoyake reminded the disbanded task force members that he had cautioned them about the consequences of violating the law. He ordered Chief Lucky Orode, the chairman of the task force, and the disbanded members to refrain from coming near his office. Additionally, he instructed them to remove their uniforms, emphasizing that they had breached the trust placed in them.

The chairman also called upon the environment task force, led by two chairmen, to avoid any association with the banned traffic task force. He encouraged them to focus on their responsibilities related to maintaining a clean environment.
