Watford’s manager, Ismael Valerie, recently revealed the reason behind his decision to decline the opportunity to re-sign Emmanuel Dennis during the summer transfer window. The forward was linked with a return to Vicarage Road just one season after departing the club.

Valerie explained that he vetoed the move because he did not consider Dennis to be a prolific goal-scorer. “His name came across my desk, but I declined,” Valerie stated in an interview with Watford Observer. “It’s as simple as that.

“I genuinely believe it was the right decision for Watford. Dennis hasn’t consistently displayed a high level of goal-scoring prowess throughout his career.

“While he had one standout season where he scored ten goals, earning him a move to Nottingham Forest, that remains his best goal tally to date.”

Emmanuel Dennis, 25, made the switch to Nottingham Forest from Watford last summer. However, his impact at Nottingham Forest during the previous season was limited, as he managed to score only twice in 19 league appearances.

Currently, Dennis is on loan at Turkish Super Lig club Istanbul Basaksehir.
