Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, didn’t hold back in his criticism of Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya, for a costly error that gifted Chelsea their second goal in the Premier League clash on Saturday.

The opening goal came from a penalty converted by Cole Palmer for the Blues. However, it was the second goal that drew Neville’s ire. Raya allowed a miscued cross from Mudryk to drift over his head into the net, equalizing the score for Chelsea.

Neville didn’t mince words in his assessment: “Raya’s positioning is simply not good enough; he’s positioned too far forward. That’s not acceptable from the Arsenal goalkeeper, and that ball shouldn’t end up in the back of the net.”

He further analyzed the error, explaining that the cross from Mudryk was originally intended for Raheem Sterling, and while it wasn’t meant as a chip, the fact that it went over Raya’s head highlights a significant issue.

Neville pointed out that Raya was positioned too far forward and likely a yard too far off his line. He had ventured beyond the near post, which, according to Neville, was a fundamental mistake.

Despite the mistake, Arsenal managed to secure a point in the match with goals from Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard.
