Atiku challenges Tinubu to address forgery controversies

The Atiku Media Team has issued a challenge to President Bola Tinubu and his team, urging them to address concerns related to forgery and spare Nigeria’s reputation from further damage by clarifying the controversies surrounding Tinubu’s life.

At a briefing in Abuja, Media Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Mazi Paul Ibe, alongside two colleagues, discussed the matter. They highlighted President Tinubu’s team’s fixation on a seemingly insignificant alleged discrepancy in the day and date of an affidavit filed by Atiku to officially change his name over 50 years ago.

Ibe stated, “Since the discovery of documents from Chicago State University that revealed a series of certificate forgeries and impersonations by President Bola A. Tinubu, many of his media aides have attempted to create an alternative narrative concerning the public life of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.”

He emphasized that the media aides and supporters of Bola A. Tinubu were primarily focused on finding any aspect of Atiku Abubakar’s public profile that they could criticize. They eventually latched onto the fact that an affidavit Atiku had filed on August 18, 1973, expressing his desire to be known as Atiku Abubakar, was signed on a Saturday. Ibe noted that they used this detail to attack Atiku.

The Atiku Media Team conducted research into the registry of Lagos State high courts in 1973 to determine whether it was unusual to have court papers signed on a Saturday. Their findings revealed that court papers were indeed signed on Saturdays in that year, demonstrating that Atiku’s affidavit wasn’t an exception.

Ibe emphasized that a country’s president should embody moral integrity, trustworthiness, and transparency. He argued that holding the position of a country’s president should align with the values that the nation stands for, and Nigeria does not stand for forgery and impersonation.

The statement concluded by reiterating the call for President Bola A. Tinubu to follow Atiku Abubakar’s example and address any doubts or uncertainties about his past.
