The first executive order serves to provide legal support for the state’s commitment to enhancing the solid minerals and tourism sectors while ensuring the security and well-being of mining communities. Governor Makinde emphasized the proactive approach adopted by his administration to address the issues of insecurity, exploitation, and environmental concerns associated with mining activities, despite mining being on the exclusive legislative list.
The governor noted the increasing security challenges in mining communities, stating, “For some time now, we have been watching the developments within our mining communities, and we have to deal with security challenges around those communities.”
The second executive order establishes the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, underscoring their pivotal roles in the state’s sustainable development roadmap for 2023-2027.
