Federal Government’s commitment to bolstering Nigerian army’s capabilities

In a bid to enhance the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Army and address security challenges in the country, Defence Minister Muhammadu Badaru has reaffirmed the federal government’s dedication to providing the military with additional equipment.

Accompanied by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, Mr. Badaru expressed his support for the armed forces and their significant achievements in tackling security threats during a working visit to the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

He assured that President Bola Tinubu is committed to addressing the military’s challenges, including manpower and accommodation needs. The president has consistently supported their requests and demonstrated a commitment to providing essential equipment, including arms, ammunition, and combat resources essential for the fight against insurgency.

The Defence Minister commended the Chief of Army Staff for the successes achieved thus far and anticipated further achievements as the military receives the necessary equipment to carry out their mission.

Minister Bello Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara, who experienced the impact of banditry in his state, acknowledged the military’s sacrifices and their dedication to addressing security issues. He encouraged the public to support the military’s efforts and highlighted the need to tackle ongoing security challenges. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of improving cooperation and intelligence sharing among the army and other security agencies while promoting non-kinetic activities.

Commander Lagbaja expressed gratitude for the federal government’s visible interventions and their positive impact on the army’s operations. He assured that the army remained steadfast in addressing the nation’s security challenges. The visit underscored the government’s determination to bolster the Nigerian Army’s capabilities and overall security in the country.
