Owen holds the belief that, in terms of ability and performance, Arsenal ranks among the top three teams in the Champions League. He made this statement following Arsenal’s remarkable 2-1 victory over Sevilla in an away Champions League match on Tuesday.
It’s important to note that Manchester City is the reigning champion of the competition, having defeated Inter Milan 1-0 in the final last season.
Owen explained his perspective, saying, “I think this Arsenal team, considering their ability and performance on a week-to-week basis, poses one of the most significant challenges for Manchester City in this competition. I truly believe they are that strong.”

However, he also acknowledged a potential obstacle, drawing from Manchester City’s own experiences in the league, stating, “The difficulty, as Manchester City has demonstrated, is that while very good teams in the league can take a long time to adapt to the Champions League, especially when facing experienced teams. I think this is the challenge that Arsenal may face this season.”
“Based on their ability, I regard them as the second or third strongest team in the league. But considering the lack of experience, it’s a monumental task to see them go all the way. Nonetheless, their talent is unquestionable,” Owen concluded.
