Shaun Wright-Phillips points to Declan Rice as Arsenal’s key player for the title challenge

Former Manchester City player, Shaun Wright-Phillips, has singled out Declan Rice as the player who can boost Arsenal’s pursuit of the Premier League title this season.

Wright-Phillips is convinced that Rice’s contribution will be pivotal in Arsenal’s title campaign, emphasizing that the England midfielder’s acquisition is a significant step forward for Mikel Arteta’s squad.

It’s worth noting that Arsenal secured Rice’s services from West Ham United during the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old has made a notable impact since joining the Emirates outfit, tallying two goals and one assist in 13 appearances across all competitions for Arsenal.

Wright-Phillips shared his perspective, stating, “I don’t particularly mind if my defensive midfielder scores goals, as long as he fulfills his primary duties.”

He went on to add, “But Rice has taken on all the criticism and is now scoring goals – crucial goals that can change the game. He’s also controlling matches, playing effectively, positioning himself correctly, and tidying up in midfield.”

In Wright-Phillips’ view, Rice is a tremendous asset to the current Arsenal squad. If they aim for the title this season, he believes Rice will play a vital role in their pursuit.
