Neville’s comments come as Spurs find themselves five points clear at the top of the Premier League table, ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Neville believes that the dynamics of the league will become clearer as the season unfolds, stating, “I don’t think they are [potential league winners or title challengers]. I honestly don’t think they are.”

He further elaborated, “I think this is something that will settle down in the next few months, but if some teams aren’t quite there and Tottenham are out of Europe, not in the Carabao Cup. They’ve got free weeks. If they’re in contention in January, then why wouldn’t they try and just boost the squad slightly and have a go at it because if (Man) City aren’t quite there or there’s some sort of slip-up from Arsenal – those teams are obviously both in Europe,” Neville said on Sky Sports.
