Osun State announces ambitious N100 billion infrastructure plan and construction of five flyovers

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has unveiled an extensive multi-billion-naira infrastructural project for the state. The ambitious plan aims to address the significant infrastructural deficit the state is currently facing. The governor emphasized that the funding for these projects would be sourced from savings realized by plugging financial leakages and funds already saved in special project accounts.

Governor Adeleke, who made this announcement, stated that the projects would be completed within one year. Additionally, his administration plans to construct five flyovers in strategic locations across the state to alleviate traffic congestion.

The proposed flyovers are as follows:

1. Two flyovers in Osogbo
2. One flyover in Ile-Ife
3. One flyover in Owode-Ede
4. One flyover in Ikirun town

Furthermore, the governor revealed that a total of 45 roads spanning all 30 local government areas of the state have been earmarked for construction as part of the N100 billion infrastructure development initiative.

Notably, Governor Adeleke underscored that these projects would be financed solely by the state without any loans from financial institutions. He assured that the administration is fully committed to adhering to procurement laws and due processes.

Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of local content in the project’s implementation, with a focus on sourcing materials and labor from within the state. This approach aligns with the administration’s five-point agenda, emphasizing skills transfer and economic empowerment for the people of Osun State.

The governor issued a stern warning to any individuals engaging in extortion from contractors involved in the projects, reiterating the administration’s commitment to eliminating capital flight.

Furthermore, Governor Adeleke expressed his administration’s readiness to explore infrastructural financing opportunities, provided they do not impose additional financial burdens on the state. The ambitious plan aims to transform Osun State through a significant investment in infrastructure and economic development.
