Governor Fubara denies wrongdoing and impeachment threat in Rivers State

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has dismissed any claims of an impeachment move against him, emphasizing that he has not committed any offense that would justify impeachment by the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He made this statement while addressing his supporters at the Assembly Complex in Port Harcourt, assuring the people of the state that they will continue to receive the benefits of democracy.

Fubara challenged those considering impeachment to reveal any wrongdoing on his part. He stated, “Let them come out and tell Rivers people the offense I have committed to warrant any impeachment.”

He concluded by promising the people of Rivers State that he would work to ensure they continue to enjoy the fruits of democracy and added that he would address the press at the appropriate time.

Recent reports have suggested a looming impeachment process against Governor Fubara following the removal of Edison Ehie from his position as the House leader. The ensuing crisis in the House resulted in members seeking safety as tear gas was deployed outside the Assembly Complex.
