Abia Government shuts down Emerald Schools in Aba, urges parents to withdraw children

Emerald Schools, situated at Crystal Park Avenue off Port Harcourt Road in Aba South Local Government Area, have been closed, and their operational approval has been revoked by the Abia State Ministry of Education in Umuahia. This decision follows the ministry’s findings indicating that the school was operating below the established standards for private schools in the state, resulting in the unfortunate de@th of a student.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Education, Professor Uche-Eme-Uche, the ministry expressed its concern for the welfare and safety of Abia children, making it a top priority. It urged parents and guardians with children attending the school to promptly withdraw them.

While the ministry understands that this may cause inconvenience to parents, it remains committed to upholding its responsibility for the well-being of Abia children. It warned that any unauthorized attempt to reopen the school would face government sanctions.

Furthermore, a team from the Ministry of Education in Umuahia commenced inspections of private schools across the state to assess their compliance with recognized educational standards.
