Ms. Edu further explained that her visit to the state was also related to the establishment of a social register, which would be integrated into the national social register. This register would enable beneficiaries from Ogun State to receive N25,000 conditional cash transfers. The verification process, including BVN and NIN checks, had already begun, and the government aimed to streamline the payment process for beneficiaries in the state.
The minister outlined various initiatives tailored for Ogun State, such as the Adire scheme, which supports the production of Adire textiles and their sale in both domestic and international markets. Additionally, grants will be provided to vulnerable women to help them establish and grow their businesses. These efforts are part of the government’s larger goal of lifting 50 million people out of poverty within the next 42 months.
