Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, conducted the swearing-in ceremony for a new member of the Executive Council and the appointment of two permanent secretaries during a ceremony at the Lagos House in Ikeja. The governor emphasized that these appointments were made with the intention of enhancing the state’s healthcare system and expanding the scope of administration.

Mrs. Oluwakemi Ogunyemi, a trained nurse and two-term member of the state Health Service Commission, was sworn in as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health.

Additionally, Governor Sanwo-Olu promoted two directors within the state civil service to the role of permanent secretaries. Mr. Adewunmi Ogunsanya, who served as Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, was appointed as the permanent secretary for the Cabinet Office. Mrs. Iyabo Seriki-Bello, previously the Director of Administration and Human Resources at Education District IV, was elevated to the position of permanent secretary at the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission.

The governor expressed his confidence in the appointees, citing their experience and expertise in governance. He reminded them of the high expectations associated with their roles and urged them to work diligently to fulfill their responsibilities.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the government’s development agenda, known as THEMES Plus, remains on track and encouraged the new appointees to familiarize themselves with this agenda. He reiterated his commitment to gender equality and youth inclusion, highlighting the appointments of women and young people to key positions as evidence of his dedication to inclusive governance.

The Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, presented the appointees to the governor, describing them as experienced officers who share the administration’s vision. In response, Mrs. Oluwakemi Ogunyemi expressed gratitude for the trust placed in them and pledged to diligently fulfill their responsibilities in alignment with the oath of office and THEMES Plus agenda.
