The minister explained that the recent retreat for Ministers and senior government officials aimed to fine-tune strategies for realizing the objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He stated, “The President directed that cutting-edge digital technology be deployed to empower Nigerians to monitor and track in real-time the implementation of Federal Government projects across the country; to this end, the Presidential Delivery Tracker was reactivated.”

He emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will continue to create a conducive environment for the media to operate. He urged media practitioners to reciprocate by carrying out their duties with a high sense of responsibility.

The Minister advised, “Report what is accurate and leave what is in doubt; don’t report what is not factual; this country is ours, and it is for all of us to build.”

Idris also acknowledged the achievements of the security agencies in the fight against insurgency and called on the media to give comprehensive coverage to these successes. He highlighted the government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all citizens and visitors, emphasizing the investments in security personnel training, arms and ammunition procurement, and intelligence deployment.

He urged media leaders to be cautious not to play into the hands of insurgents by reporting information that might be misleading or sensational.

In addition, the Minister appealed to foreign nationals not to issue unnecessary travel advisories that could create false security alarms and discourage investors, adversely affecting the economy.

Idris reassured Nigerians that the government is taking measures to ease the impact of oil subsidy reduction and that the recently passed supplementary budget of N2.17 trillion by the National Assembly will provide the necessary liquidity for critical interventions to stimulate the economy.
