Fear has gripped residents of Iree town in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State after an attack on a Nigerian Army soldier in the town, raising concerns about potential reprisal attacks.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when some hoodlums assaulted and wounded a soldier at the Poly Junction area of Iree. The identity of the soldier and the cause of the altercation leading to the attack remain unclear.

Onlookers refrained from intervening, fearing they might become targets of the hoodlums. One of the witnesses, a trader at Poly Junction, mentioned that the hoodlums were led by a notorious thug in the town known as “Gbedu.”
