Xavi analyzes Barcelona’s 1-0 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League

Barcelona’s manager, Xavi Hernandez, offered insights into why his team suffered a 1-0 defeat against Shakhtar Donetsk in Tuesday’s Champions League match.

In the game held at Volksparkstadion, Danylo Sikan’s first-half goal secured the victory for Shakhtar Donetsk over Barcelona. During the match, Xavi’s team managed only one shot on target, while Shakhtar Donetsk had four.

In his post-game comments, Xavi acknowledged that Barcelona’s performance was below par. He stated that his team made a significant mistake against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Xavi expressed his disappointment, saying, “We have not played a good game. Nothing has gone as planned. We wanted to confirm the qualification, but it is a clear step backward. The Champions League demands the highest level, but we have not found it. We are angry. We could not afford to fail, and we did. It’s a significant mistake on our part.”

Despite this setback, Barcelona still leads Group H with nine points from four matches.
