Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has affirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting competent indigenous contractors while also engaging foreign firms for essential projects. The governor made this announcement during an inspection of completed and ongoing projects in Ika North East and Aniocha South local government areas of the state.

The inspected projects include the faculties of Engineering and Environmental Sciences at the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Owa-Alero campus, Ute-Okpu-Ute-Enugu Road, and Isheagu-Ewulu Road. Governor Oborevwori commended the immediate past governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, for initiating these projects, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to consolidating existing ones and initiating new developments.

During the inspection, Governor Oborevwori expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects, highlighting the importance of the Isheagu-Ewulu Road in connecting various communities and boosting local commerce. He stated that the indigenous contractor responsible for the road construction has been fully mobilized and assured that the job would be completed by the next month.

The governor also praised the quality of work at the Engineering and Environmental Sciences faculties of UNIDEL, Owa-Alero campus. He commended the contractor for completing the Environmental Sciences Faculty, consisting of two 250-seater capacity theater halls, four 50-seater capacity lecture halls, and four studios. Additionally, the Engineering Faculty, with its fully equipped workshop, is near completion and awaits inauguration.
