Bauchi Emirate Council takes action; Deposes six traditional title holders

In a recent development, the Bauchi Emirate Council has taken the decision to depose six traditional titleholders in the Galambi District Area. The council attributed this decision to the failure of the turbaning process for these traditional rulers to adhere to established guidelines.

The District Head of Galambi, Alhaji Shehu Adamu Jumba, who holds the position of Danlawal of Bauchi Emirate, had appointed and turbaned several traditional rulers, including Galadiman Danlawal, Majidadin Danlawal, Wakilin Dokan Danlawal, Wakilin Gonan Danlawal, Sarkin Dajin Danlawal, and Hardon Danlawal. However, this move was met with disapproval from the Emirate Council.

The decision to strip these traditional rulers of their titles was communicated through a statement issued by Malam Babangida Hassan Jahun, the Chief Information Officer of the Bauchi Emirate Council, following a council meeting. Additionally, the district head has been barred from making such appointments for a duration of one year, effective from November 7, 2023. He has been directed to strictly adhere to established guidelines in all future turbaning processes.
