In the recently concluded Imo State gubernatorial election, Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) clinched victory in all 27 local government areas. The collation process concluded at 8:30 am on Sunday at the State Collation Centre in Owerri, the state capital.

The collation, supervised by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof Abayomi Fashina, began at 2:30 am on Sunday. The primary contenders in the election were Governor Uzodimma representing the APC, Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Achonu Nneji of the Labour Party, among 18 parties fielding candidates.

INEC reported a total of 2,419,922 registered voters in the state, with 2,318,919 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected. Following the collation’s conclusion at 8:30 am, Fashina announced a one-hour break before reconvening for the official announcement of the winner.
