The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has seized the opportunity of Dino Melaye’s defeat in the Kogi State gubernatorial election to mock Governor Ademola Adeleke, who served as the campaign chairman for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the said election.

In a statement signed by the Osun APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, the defeat of Melaye is portrayed as a political lesson for Adeleke, emphasizing the metaphorical mirror it holds, reflecting Adeleke’s alleged “political emptiness.”

Lawal stated, “The Kogi State gubernatorial election results should serve as a metaphorical mirror for Adeleke, reflecting his political emptiness. With Melaye’s defeat, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, the outcome in Kogi State this year might mirror the scenario in Osun State’s 2026 governorship election.”

The statement contends that Adeleke’s appointment as the campaign chairman for PDP in Kogi State inadvertently brought political misfortune to the party, asserting that his presumed election strategy was mere luck and lacked the substance that secured victories in previous Osun elections.

Lawal criticized Adeleke for not disclosing the alleged costliness of his victory, claiming that over 30 innocent APC members lost their lives due to PDP-related violence in the Kogi elections.

He warned Adeleke of the APC’s commitment to using constitutional means to dislodge him from office in the 2026 governorship elections, highlighting the party’s intention to challenge Adeleke’s presumed confidence in securing a repeat of electoral success.

The statement also urged Adeleke to distribute the Federal Government’s N9 Billion fuel subsidy removal palliative to the people of the state and cautioned against delaying its distribution.

Lawal concluded by reminding Adeleke that voters in 2026 will use their cards to voice their dissatisfaction and potential resistance if the Federal Government palliative is delayed until the first anniversary of his administration.
