Kaduna State Governor mourns the loss of iconic actor Samanja Mazan Fama

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, expressed deep sorrow on Sunday over the demise of veteran actor, producer, and director, Alhaji Usman Baba Pategi, widely known as Samanja Mazan Fama.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, conveyed the governor’s shock and sadness in a released statement. The governor highlighted the significant impact Samanja had on the nation through his acting prowess, particularly in the 1980s.

Samanja gained widespread recognition and love from millions of households for his role in the discontinued NTA drama series portraying the lives of soldiers in the barracks.

Born in 1942 into the Royal Pategi Family, Samanja served in the Nigerian Army and the old Northern Broadcasting Corporation, where he cultivated his talents as an actor, writer, and producer.

Governor Uba Sani, on behalf of the people of Kaduna State, extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late actor. He also called for prayers from well-meaning Nigerians during this challenging period, concluding the statement with a prayer for Allah to grant Samanja Mazan Fama a place in Jannat-ul-Firdaus and forgive his sins.
