Minister Kunle Salako encourages youth to prioritize national service over demands

In a call to action, Kunle Salako, the Minister of State for Environment and Ecological Management in Nigeria, has urged the nation’s youth to emphasize serving the country before presenting their demands.

Salako delivered this message during the Ayetoro-Yewa Day celebration in Ayetoro, Yewa North LG, Ogun State, on Sunday. As a native of Ayetoro, Salako emphasized the importance of Nigerian youth actively participating in nation-building by dedicating themselves to service in any capacity.

Drawing a parallel to agriculture, he likened the process to a farmer cultivating and planting before expecting a bountiful harvest. Salako stressed that the youth must comprehend the reciprocal nature of service, indicating that the nation will respond to their needs after they have served it diligently.

“My advice, especially to the younger ones, is to prioritize serving our land before making demands of Nigeria. If you serve your land, your land will serve you,” he expressed.

Furthermore, Salako assured that Ogun State would receive significant attention from the Federal Government, particularly from the Federal Ministry of Environment. This commitment aims to underscore the importance of regional development and environmental management in the nation’s agenda.
