The state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, revealed this development during a press briefing following the Executive Council meeting. Kanu emphasized that the school inspection initiative, which has already assessed 900 schools, aims to elevate the education standard in Abia State.

“While about 900 schools have been inspected, some have fallen short of the required standard and were consequently shut down. This ongoing exercise reflects the state government’s commitment to reforming the education sector,” stated Commissioner Okey Kanu.

Additionally, the briefing addressed infrastructure improvements, with Governor Alex Otti set to commission more roads. The Ministry of Works has received directives to commence rehabilitation on Finbar’s road and Ahieke-Lodu roads in Umuahia.
