Atiku made this call during a meeting with a delegation from the national executive committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on Tuesday. He emphasized the urgent need for a collaborative effort among opposition parties, highlighting the risk of Nigeria’s democracy transforming into a one-party system.

Expressing concern over the apparent shift towards a one-party rule, Atiku emphasized the detrimental impact on democracy if there isn’t a robust and effective opposition. He stated, “If we don’t come together to challenge what the ruling party is trying to create, our democracy will suffer for it, and the consequences of it will affect the generations yet unborn.”

The former Vice President underscored that the protection of democracy is a collective responsibility, not confined to the interests of a single individual. Atiku’s call for opposition parties to merge reflects a broader commitment to safeguarding the democratic ideals that form the foundation of Nigeria’s political landscape.
