Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has mandated investigations into incidents of violence during the off-season governorship elections held on November 11 in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states.

In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday in Abuja, the IGP instructed all Electoral Offences Desk officers supervised by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, to launch the investigation.
Egbetokun expressed appreciation for the support provided by other security operatives during the elections, commending their commitment and diligence in ensuring a smooth electoral process. Despite earlier threat assessments and projected challenges, the IGP noted that the electoral process in the three states was seamless.
Recognizing the exceptional efforts of security personnel, Egbetokun praised their role in maintaining law and order, safeguarding the electoral process, and ensuring the safety of citizens. The directive for a thorough investigation underscores the commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral system.
