Partial compliance: NLC and TUC strike takes hold in Zamfara

In line with the directives from the national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), the Zamfara State chapters have embraced the nationwide indefinite strike, citing the need to emphasize their demands.

Leaders of both labor unions explained their participation in the strike, attributing it to the economic challenges stemming from the removal of fuel subsidy and the recent assault on NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo State.

Despite the call for nationwide compliance, our correspondent noted a varying degree of adherence in Zamfara. While some workers continued with their duties, others withdrew their services in the afternoon on Tuesday.

A visit to the Yahaya Gusau Federal Secretariat revealed a modest number of staff coming in and out, indicating partial compliance with the directives from the NLC and TUC national headquarters.

Comrade Sani Halilu and Comrade Saidu Mudi, the state chairmen of NLC and TUC respectively, addressed the media before actively engaging in ensuring compliance. They moved to the State Secretariat, Jibril Bala Yakubu Secretariat, and other establishments to encourage adherence to the directive of downing tools. The level of compliance remains a focal point as the strike unfolds in Zamfara.
