Alaowei’s plea, conveyed through a statement, emphasizes the absence of justification for the Labour Union to disrupt the country’s operations due to a personal conflict involving its President, the Governor of Imo State, and the Nigeria Police.
He expressed concern about the adverse impact the strike would have on underpaid Nigerian workers and the unemployed masses, highlighting that neither the Governor of Imo State nor the former Commissioner of Police in Imo State would be directly affected. Alaowei questioned the potential gains for workers at the end of this strike, suggesting that the NLC President pursue legal recourse against the alleged attack by the police.
The CHURAC Chairman criticized the strike as unnecessary, asserting that dragging the entire country into a personal matter with government officials is unwarranted. He urged the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to respect the sanctity of the courts, emphasizing the importance of obeying court orders in a constitutional democracy.

Pointing out the existing court order restraining the unions from embarking on the industrial action, Alaowei emphasized the significance of upholding the rule of law. He encouraged the labor unions to either comply with the court order or appeal against it, emphasizing that disobedience undermines the foundations of democracy.
