Tacha clarifies “Upcoming Artiste” comment regarding Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck

Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, a former participant of Big Brother Naija and on-air personality, has provided clarification on why she referred to rappers Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck as “upcoming artistes” on the recent episode of the Big Friday Show With Tacha on Cool FM, Lagos.

Tacha faced criticism on social media following her use of the term “upcoming artistes” for Blaqbonez, Odumodublvck, and Shallipopi during the show. In response to the backlash, Tacha took to her social media platforms to explain that using the term “upcoming artistes” was not meant to be condescending.

In her statement, she said, “An episode from the Big Friday Show has gone viral and there’s no amount of insult I’ve not gotten. Everybody is saying, ‘Tacha called Blaqbonez an upcoming artiste. Tacha called Odumodublvck an upcoming artiste.’ If I called them upcoming artistes, tell me, what is wrong with using the term upcoming artistes?”

Tacha went on to share the definition of “upcoming musician” from Google, emphasizing that it refers to singers who have been around for some time and are promising to make it big. She clarified that using the term was not intended to belittle or be condescending, expressing her friendship with Blaqbonez, Odumodu, and Shallipopi.
