Tinubu extends congratulations to President-elect Boakai, commends Weah’s leadership

President Bola Tinubu has conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Liberia for the successful completion of the presidential election, expressing commendation for the President-elect Joseph Boakai. Speaking through his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity under Boakai’s leadership to ensure the delivery of good governance to the people of Liberia.

In addition, President Tinubu applauded the outgoing President, George Weah, for his remarkable display of leadership by conceding defeat, thereby preventing potential socio-political crises. He praised Weah’s act of democratic sportsmanship as exemplary, especially in the current West African context where democracy faces challenges from those seeking to undermine the people’s will.

Tinubu stated, “I commend President George Weah for his sterling example, undiluted patriotism, and statesmanship. He has defied the stereotype that peaceful transitions of power are untenable in West Africa. He has demonstrated that the outcome of elections in the sub-region need not become the propellant of violence and unrest and that the will of the people must always be respected.”
