Ibikunle Amosun mourns the passing of former Ondo Military Governor, Major General Ekundayo Opaleye

Former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, expresses deep sorrow over the demise of Major General Ekundayo Opaleye (rtd), a former Military Governor of the old Ondo State. Opaleye passed away due to a heart attack in Abeokuta on Saturday, leaving behind a legacy of military service and commitment to community development.

Major General Opaleye, born on April 7, 1946, served as the Military Governor of Ondo State from 1986 to 1987 during the Ibrahim Babangida regime. His military career included notable roles, such as the Commander of the OAU Neutral Military Organization Group (NMOG) in Rwanda.

In a statement, Amosun pays tribute to Opaleye as an illustrious son of Owu Kingdom and a dedicated military officer. He highlights Opaleye’s selfless service in the Nigerian Army and various military assignments in Nigeria and Africa.
