Previously, teachers in the state faced retirement either after 35 years of service or upon reaching the age of 60. The new law, signed by Governor Uzodimma, is expected to serve as a motivational factor for teachers in public schools across the state.
Expressing his perspective after the bill became law, Governor Uzodimma emphasized that the additional five years granted to teachers should inspire them to dedicate their time and efforts to deliver top-quality education to Imo children. The goal is to graduate students who stand out as the best in Nigeria.
Referring to this gesture as “value addition,” Governor Uzodimma called upon teachers to exhibit increased commitment and seriousness in their roles. He congratulated them on this development and highlighted that the law aims to instill a sense of job security, encouraging teachers to be more effective and efficient in their duties.
