Having suffered displacement by Boko Haram insurgents around eight years ago, Monguno, now recaptured by the Nigerian military, hosts internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the local government areas of Kukawa, Guzamala, Nganzai, and Marte.
Governor Zulum emphasized that Monguno, severely affected by insurgency, will continue to receive palliatives throughout his tenure, aiming to support communities grappling with the aftermath of the Boko Haram insurgency. He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Nigeria Customs Service for their support in providing rice.
Dignitaries present during the distribution included House of Representatives member Bukar Talba, Managing Director of the Chad Basin Development Authority Abba Garba, Commissioners Sugun Mai Mele and Bawu Musami, Director General of SEMA Dr. Barkindo Aliyu Muhammed, Special Adviser Baba Bukar Gujibawu, General Manager Mohammed Musa Aliyu, and Chairman of Monguno Local Government Mohammed Kyari.
