NiMet forecasts 3-day weather outlook, sunshine and dust haze across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has provided a weather forecast indicating three days of varying conditions, including sunshine and dust haze across the country from Saturday to Monday.

Issuing the weather forecast on Thursday in Abuja, NiMet predicted moderate dust haze on Friday, with horizontal visibility ranging from 2Km to 5Km over the North and North Central States. Specifically, Yobe, Borno, Jigawa, and Kano States were expected to experience localized horizontal visibility less than or equal to 1,000m during the forecast period.

The forecast outlined patches of clouds with sunny skies over the inland states of the South, with a cloudy atmosphere anticipated over the coastal regions during the morning hours. Additionally, sunny skies with patches of clouds were expected over the inland states, with the likelihood of localized thunderstorms over parts of Edo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Cross River, and Rivers States later in the day.

For Saturday’s forecast, NiMet projected significant dust haze across the northern states throughout the day. The agency anticipated moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 2Km to 5Km across the country’s north-central area during the entire forecast period.

Across the southern inland states, clear skies with patches of cloud were expected, accompanied by a cloudy atmosphere over the coastal regions in the early hours of the forecast period. The weather service further predicted bright and hazy conditions across the interior states, with the potential for localized thunderstorms over parts of Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa states later in the day.
