FCT-Fire takes measures to safeguard emergency responders from attacks

The Federal Capital Territory Fire Service (FCT-Fire) has initiated proactive measures in collaboration with the police and other security agencies to prevent attacks on emergency responders. Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Monday, Mr Ibrahim Tauheed, the service’s spokesperson, emphasized the importance of engaging communities to raise awareness about the crucial mission of the fire service.

In an effort to deter any interference with firefighting operations, Tauheed mentioned the consideration of increasing community engagements through outreach programs. The aim is to highlight the significance of the fire service’s work and foster cooperation with local authorities, community leaders, district heads, and chiefs to address potential challenges.

The spokesperson emphasized the ongoing collaboration with law enforcement authorities to provide necessary backup during emergencies, discouraging hoodlums from attacking firefighters and engaging in property looting.

Tauheed cited the recent incident at the Samsung warehouse fire, where emergency responders were attacked by miscreants. The collaboration with security agencies and community leaders is seen as crucial to creating a safer environment for fire service personnel to carry out their duties effectively.
