The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in the rift between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as mere window dressing, asserting that the political turmoil persists.

Kennedy Peretei, the party’s spokesperson, expressed this viewpoint in a statement following Tinubu’s summoning of Aiyedatiwa and other concerned parties to the Presidential Villa in Abuja in an effort to resolve the dispute during Akeredolu’s absence.
Despite Tinubu’s call for a truce and an end to any impeachment proceedings, Peretei insisted that the internal party discord continues to impact governance in the state. He criticized the deployment of taxpayers’ money on what he deemed fruitless trips to Abuja.
Peretei cautioned against a repetition of the ineffective Bello Masari Reconciliation Committee established by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, which resulted in both parties returning to court despite promises to withdraw all cases.

Labeling Tinubu’s intervention as mere window dressing, Peretei acknowledged that the impeachment of the deputy governor might be halted out of respect for Tinubu’s office. However, he maintained that as long as Governor Akeredolu remains in hiding, the resolution remains elusive, and the political cat and mouse race is far from concluded. The siege, according to Peretei, is not yet over.
