Edo 2024: Deputy Governor Shaibu asserts confidence in defeating Obaseki’s anointed candidate

As the Edo State gubernatorial election approaches, Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu has expressed unwavering determination to triumph over Governor Godwin Obaseki’s chosen candidate. Shaibu, confident in his candidacy, attributes his assurance to the overwhelming support he enjoys from the people of the state.

During a Monday evening appearance on a TVC program, Shaibu declared his intent to defeat Obaseki’s anointed candidate, emphasizing the backing he has from the people of Edo. He underscored the preference of Edo citizens for a candidate with local roots, asserting, “Edo people do not want importation; they want their own.”

Despite acknowledging differences in management styles with the governor, Shaibu highlighted the interference of certain individuals in their relationship. He acknowledged the challenges he has faced, stating, “When I said I was pressed, but not distressed, I understand the kind of intimidation and oppression I have gone through.”
