Alleged conspiracy to protest against key figures unearthed by Benue APC

The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has brought to light what it claims to be a clandestine scheme orchestrated by agents of the state government. The alleged plan aims to sponsor a protest targeting President Bola Tinubu and other prominent figures. The party asserts that the objective is to obstruct the cessation of funds to local governments with undemocratic structures in Benue and across the nation.

In an official statement released by Mr. Daniel Ihomun, the Publicity Secretary of the party, it was revealed that the protest is purportedly directed not only at President Tinubu but also at Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Dr George Akume, who serves as the APC Leader in Benue. Akume has recently faced unfounded allegations in the state.

Ihomun emphasized the gravity of this alleged plot, stating, “The party views this act of sabotage as portending grave danger to the unity of the state and the party.” He highlighted a precursor to the protest, involving a call for the resignation of the Party Chairman in the State, Comrade Austin Agada, without any substantial reason provided.

Expressing concern over potential repercussions, Ihomun stated, “Much as the organizers are free to express themselves, taking steps that would embarrass Mr. President and his administration is unacceptable and must be halted.”

In response to the unfolding situation, the party called upon law enforcement authorities, urging the Inspector General of Police and the Benue State Commissioner of Police to closely monitor the planned protest. The party cautioned against what may initially seem like a solidarity march but with an underlying malicious motive.

Furthermore, the statement implored Governor Hyacinth Alia to be vigilant and monitor the activities of individuals misusing his name to perpetrate actions that could lead to anarchy in the state. The party also called on security agencies within the state to remain on high alert.
