Kwara State implements full consolidated health salary structure and boosts nursing workforce

In a significant move, the Kwara State government has given its nod to the complete implementation of the 100% Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for nurses within the state. This decision is complemented by the recruitment of 63 additional nurses, strategically aimed at addressing the challenges posed by brain drain in the country and enhancing the quality and standards of nursing care, aligning with global best practices.

Aminu Shehu and Markus Luka, the Chairman and Secretary of the Kwara State Council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, shared this positive development in a statement released in Ilorin and made available to the media.

The association expressed gratitude to the Executive Secretary of the state Hospital Management Bureau, acknowledging their pivotal role in advocating for and achieving the fulfillment of their demands by the government. Additionally, they extended commendation to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his approval and subsequent implementation of the 100% CONHESS, along with the strategic recruitment of more nurses to fortify healthcare delivery in the state.

This move signifies a proactive step by the Kwara State government to prioritize the welfare of healthcare professionals and enhance the overall healthcare infrastructure within the state.
