This marks the fourth payment since Governor Adeleke assumed office, addressing arrears that remained unresolved during the Adegboyega Oyetola administration. The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, disclosed in a statement that Adeleke had approved a phased payment approach to settle the 30-month half-salary debt, paralleling a similar arrangement for pensioners, tackling a substantial N75 billion in outstanding pension and gratuity.

Governor Adeleke affirmed his administration’s proactive stance, citing the issuance of a circular on phased payment by the Head of Service under his directive. He assured workers that the implementation of this circular would continue alongside other welfare packages for both active workers and retirees.

During his statement, Adeleke reiterated his commitment to the implementation of recently approved palliative allowances for workers and pensioners across the state, extending the assurance to include local government workers.
