Oyo mourns the passing of renowned entertainer and activist, Lanrewaju Adepoju

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed his condolences over the demise of the esteemed Yoruba activist, poet, author, and entertainer, Olanrewaju Adepoju, popularly known as Lanrewaju Adepoju. The activist passed away on Sunday, leaving behind a legacy in the realms of music, poetry, and artistic expression.

In a heartfelt condolence message released to the media on Monday, Governor Makinde acknowledged Adepoju as one of Oyo State’s distinguished ambassadors in the entertainment industry. He highlighted the late activist’s significant contributions to addressing social issues across the country through his talents in music, poems, songs, and various artistic works.

Expressing deep sympathy to the family of the departed Pa Olanrewaju Adepoju, Governor Makinde recognized him as a remarkable social crusader who utilized his artistry to rectify social ills. He emphasized Adepoju’s role as a great ambassador of the Pacesetter State, flying the flag of Oyo as he made a substantial impact on society.

The Governor concluded with a prayer for the repose of Adepoju’s soul and the protection of the family he left behind. Olanrewaju Adepoju, a native of Ibadan, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 in his home.
