Rivers State Governor summons emergency EXCO meeting amidst lawmakers’ mass defection to APC

In response to the dramatic defection of 27 members of the 32-member House of Assembly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has urgently called an emergency meeting with the members of the State Executive Council. The meeting is taking place at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The lawmakers made the surprising switch during a House of Assembly sitting, with the majority of the members aligning themselves with the opposition APC.
