FAAN urges vigilance: Strong warning on touts and bribery at Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is urging airport users to steer clear of touts, emphasizing a commitment to curbing such practices. Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, emphasized FAAN’s efforts to address misbehavior at airports by employing undercover agents.

In a statement issued on Monday in Lagos, Yakubu-Funtua highlighted the stern warning given by FAAN’s Managing Director to staff and government agencies operating at airports. The authority is determined to take punitive measures against anyone found culpable. Yakubu-Funtua urged travelers not to engage in bribery or encourage extortion and emphasized compliance with rules regarding prohibited items.

FAAN has set up information desks at all airports to assist travelers, and Yakubu-Funtua encouraged passengers to utilize these resources. The statement also mentioned FAAN’s commitment to enhancing security equipment for the safety of travelers’ lives and property.

In preparation for the Yuletide season, Yakubu-Funtua advised Nigerians to trust the airports and recommended arriving early to avoid crowds and potential flight delays. FAAN has expanded airport screening areas to enhance the overall flying experience for travelers.
